How this calculator works

Multiply room length × width to get total area. Add wastage (10% for straight layouts, 15% for diagonal). Divide by m² per pack to get packs needed. Check your product sheet for pack coverage.

Flooring calculator FAQ

How much flooring waste should I add?

Add 10% for a standard straight-lay installation, 15% for diagonal patterns, and 20% for herringbone or chevron. More complex room shapes need more.

How much flooring do I need for a 200 sq ft room?

200 sq ft + 10% waste = 220 sq ft. If your laminate or LVP comes in 22 sq ft boxes, that's 10 boxes. Always round up — partial boxes aren't sold.

Does this work for laminate, vinyl, hardwood, and LVP?

Yes. The math is the same — total area + waste ÷ box coverage. Just enter the coverage per box from your product spec (usually printed on the box or product page).

How much does flooring cost per square foot in 2026?

Material-only ranges: laminate $1-4/sq ft, vinyl/LVP $2-7/sq ft, engineered hardwood $4-10/sq ft, solid hardwood $5-12/sq ft. Installed costs run 2-3x material.
