How many bricks do I need per square foot?
For a standard modular brick (3-5/8" × 2-1/4" × 7-5/8"), you need roughly 7 bricks per square foot of wall. Queen-sized bricks need ~6 per sq ft, and utility bricks need ~5 per sq ft. Always add 5-10% for breakage and cuts.
How much mortar do I need for 1000 bricks?
A standard rule of thumb: one 50kg bag of mortar mix per 100-142 bricks, depending on brick size. For 1000 modular bricks you'll need roughly 7-10 bags. Our calculator does the math automatically based on your wall area.
How many bricks in a wall 10ft long and 8ft tall?
A 10ft × 8ft wall = 80 sq ft × ~7 bricks/sq ft = ~560 bricks for a single-wythe modular brick wall. Add 10% for waste → about 620 bricks total.
Does the calculator account for mortar joints and waste?
Yes — the brick-per-area figure already factors in a 3/8" mortar joint, and we add a default 10% waste for cuts and breakage. You can adjust this if your project has lots of corners or cuts.
